Packaging engineering
Target definition and environment assessment.
In order to define the Project’s target and for proposing a packaging that fully meets the Customer’s needs, SIPA Molds goes through a deep technical assessment of the existing production environment.
For a new bottle:
- evaluation of downstream equipment (i.e. filler, capper, labeller, packer, palletizer, etc.) for understanding critical areas for handling the new packaging;
- consideration of the interaction between the new bottle and the product being filled (oxygen sensitivity, CO2 loss requirements, light protection needs, etc.);
- shelf life requirements;
- lightweighting opportunities.
For a new preform:
- evaluation of final blowing process;
- lightweighting opportunities;
- estimation of interaction between neck finish and closure.
For a new closure:
- measurement of the existing bottle neck finish design;
- evaluation of product carbonation level;
- assessment of environmental storage conditions;
- lightweighting opportunities.
